Supported Living Fact Sheet
* We support 17 people on a semi-daily basis, 23 people all together. 4 people work at the center, 6
work at Larson’s, 1 at JC Penny’s, 1 at the Valley in Volga, 1 at Cubbies and 4 at SDSU.
* Duties within supported living: Cooking, Cleaning, Budgeting check books, med. administration,
assisting with activities, shopping, paying bills, educating on hygiene, budgets, relationships,
emotional management and social support.
* A Typical Day
*Cleaning (Vacuuming), cooking a meal, giving 5 pm meds, pay bills, clean bathroom, help reconcile a checkbook, check over grocery list, menu planning, give 8 pm meds, soak feet, OT/PT, take to Wal-Mart, socialize, and document.
*In Supported Living you may see up to 5 or 6 people per day or as little as 3.
*People Supported work until around 3:30p, all part time shifts start at 3:30 or 4 and full time staff starts at 12 pm.
* On the Weekends
* We: go to the movies, take a walk around the park, go to Dairy Queen for a treat, go grocery shopping, give meds, bake cookies, clean bedrooms, go bowling, cook a new recipe, go to an SDSU play, watch a twins game, do day trips, and much more!
* Within Supported Living staff support a lot of people, do a lot of driving, talk on the phone with people supported as well as other staff & supervisor , and do a lot of community activities.
Finances are a big part of working here we need someone who is comfortable writing checks, balancing checkbooks, reconciling bank statements. Staff in supported living help with a lot of educational topics such as hygiene, healthy eating, exercise, budgeting and relationships.
