ALA Fact Sheet

* ALA has a variety of ages living there and also a variety of disabilities and diagnoses as well.  There are 8 people supported living there with 7 apartments.

* Duties within ALA: lots of cooking & cleaning, grocery shopping, attending events, assisting with  
  laundry, talking & listening to people.

* A Typical Day
          * Pick people up from work, prepare menus & meals, grocery shopping, assist with cleaning apartments, hygiene assistance, helping with finances (ie checkbooks or cash spending),  talking to people, helping with laundry, assisting with medications.

* On the weekend:
          * We: Walk to Pump & Pack, watch movies, shop, attend SDSU events, play games, go out to            eat, travel, talk, attend community events.

* Within ALA people can do some things more independently than other group homes. People
supported are not completely independent but have skills that can move them into gaining that skill.

- Who works well on a team
- That pulls their own weight
- Who has cleaning skills
- Who is a good communicator
- Who is reliable
- Who is dependable
- Who is Respectful
- With problem solving skills
